When teeth and jaw fall out of line, the medical term is dysgnathia. Misalignment of the jaw means more than aesthetic impairment; it can also cause multiple of functional problems. Because if the upper and lower jaw do not rest properly one on top of the other, this may for instance lead to eating and speaking problems, insufficient closure of the lips or sleep-related breathing disturbances and snoring, as well as mandibular joint problems.
